Day 1 and 2 - Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 January 2010, Day 3 and 4 – Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 February 2010.
This 4-day programme provides a unique opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification in giving funding advice. The Level 3 award is aimed at existing funding advice workers from voluntary/statutory organisations, umbrella agency workers, community development workers, external funding officers and all others who give funding advice to voluntary/community groups. The Level 2 award is aimed at workers who would benefit from an understanding of the role and who may signpost groups to providers of funding advice as part of their role.
This informal, up-to-date course is challenging, participative and thought-provoking covering areas such as:
* Good practice in giving funding advice
* Diagnosing groups needs and stage of development
* The principles of a funding strategy
* Understanding barriers to accessing funding
* Useful sources of information for advisers
* Analysis of the variety of funding sources
* Clarifying complex funding criteria and jargon for groups
* Giving feedback on draft applications
* Appreciating current funding trends
* Methods and benefits of monitoring and evaluation
Note:This programme does not include organisational development.
Successful completion leads to 3 credits at Level 2 or 3 through the Open College Network. There is no exam as the coursework is completed during the course and at home. Assessment is made by the tutors and then independently moderated. Please note there is an element of producing hand-written material on all of the 4 days, although course material can be made available in alternative formats if this is requested prior to attending.
