Welcome! As the Social Enterprise Mark's first birthday approaches, we are thrilled to advise that the Mark is celebrating its first Community Interest Company and its first Development Trust... welcome to the Pierian Centre and Wolseley Trust.
Social Enterprise Day was very exciting for RISE, as well as celebrating Upstream as the winner, with Plymouth Music Zone as the runner-up of the social enterprise photography competition, we were also excited to learn that Upstream had won the Social Enterprise Coalition's national prize, judged by the Social Enterprise Ambassadors. Upstream have already met Kevin Brennan, Minister for the Third Sector and they are soon to receive their South West prize - shadowing Gaynor Coley at the Eden Project. Plymouth Music Zone will receive an ethical hamper. The RISE trainers delivered social enterprise sessions in schools during Enterprise Week and we hope there will be budding social entrepreneurs, as a result, like Dan Gigg. Further to the social enterprise session delivered at Sidmouth College last year, Dan is planning to set-up a youth cafe.
I hope you find this newsletter interesting and varied but not too long. We welcome any feedback, so if you have any news or comments, please let us know.
