RISE is part of the second annual Social Enterprise Day photography competition for England, and this year, we want to show how social enterprise is more than just business as usual. We are in search of the best photograph that shows how social enterprise is using business to make positive change. Somerset Co-operative Services (SCS) a Somerset based Co-operative CIC announced at its recent AGM the launch of the Somerset Rules - a new and unique set of I&PS Model Rules for a multi-stakeholder co-operative, combining the accountability and democracy of co-ops with the social reporting and investment opportunities associated with social enterprise.

RISE BAN - Mergers, acquisitions and partnerships

Location - Taunton

Our October 2009 BAN event will explore creative solutions to the recession focusing on alternative business models for growing social enterprises. It will examine the potential for sector growth through mergers, acquisitions and partnerships. The day will build on materials and learning from the conference hosted by CEiS in September in Glasgow entitled: ‘International Social Enterprise Business Models Conference’.

The meeting will include a combination of presentations, plenary discussion and cases studies of social enterprises pursuing these business models. It will be delivered by iSE from Birmingham, who sponsored and participated in the ‘International Social Enterprise Business Models Conference’.
