Call for Expressions of Interest

Cross-Regional Social Value Commissioning Project: Developing Tools, Techniques and Guidance for the NHS and Partners
NHS North West, acting on behalf of all 10 Strategic Health Authorities in England, wishes to commission a framework to guide the NHS on ways of releasing maximum public value from NHS investment. This framework should reflect recent policy directions in this area as well as the learning from current initiatives aimed at delivering additional public and social value from investments in health, well being and social care. Deadline for returns: 4pm, 19 January 2009.

Expressions of interest invited: Capacity Builders Social Enterprise Programme

Under the Capacitybuilders Social Enterprise Programme 2008-2011, RISE invites Expressions of Interest against outline project briefs that have been developed to address identified weaknesses in support for social enterprises in South West England. Deadline for submission by email is Monday 29th September 12 noon.

Government to train public sector commissioners to work better with 3rd sector

Phil Hope, Cabinet Office Minister for the Third Sector, has launched a series of training sessions to help commissioners of public services work in partnership with the third sector. The Government wants public services to benefit from greater involvement of charities, voluntary groups and social enterprises. 600 commissioners will learn how best make this happen in the regional training sessions which are part of a four-year National Programme for Third Sector Commissioning. Expressions of interest: invitation to register

RISE is encouraging social enterprises to register their interest with the LSC. The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) for England invites expressions of interest from organisations for the supply of learning and skills provision to employers, employees and individuals not in work across England in the following areas: Basic Skills and Employability provision for Jobcentre Plus customers, Apprenticeships, Work Based Learning, Apprenticeships for Adults, A range of enhanced skills and employment activities, Specific areas of provision as identified in Regional Commissioning Plans.

Training for Tendering - 2007

The latest news in procurement lies in two areas: (1) the Gershon Review of his original Report. This will undoubtedly lead to more e-procurement and more e-auctions in the future; (2) the National Sustainability Action Plan which will affect every aspect of the way in which organisations who contract with public bodies are organised and managed. Tendering for Care have developed workshops to maximise these opportunities in procurement

Public Procurement

A new website has been launched which improves access to public sector contracts for small businesses. There are now more than 7,000 government contracts advertised on a new business portal which removes the barriers faced by many small businesses to access public sector contracts.

Nearbuyou

There are currently 70 contract opportunities posted on Nearbuyou with between 5 and 10 new contracts being added daily. There are contracts from ALL regions of the UK and many of these would be suitable for social enterprise organisations. They now have a solid range of sources for contract opportunities enabling them to update Nearbuyou regularly.

Find new business opportunities in the public sector

All types of businesses are soon to get access to valuable new business opportunities through the new �supplier route to government� portal which goes live this spring. Developed by the Small Business Service and supported by Business Link, it aims to become the first portal of call for lower-value public sector contracts opening up this market to all business and making it easier for them to work with government.
