News from RISE: Community Enterprise Unit Ltd become holders of the Social Enterprise Mark
Community Enterprise Unit in Exeter have become the first business support organisation and the first worker co-operative to be licensed to use the Social Enterprise Mark.
The co-operative provides business advice, training and research for social economy organisations in Devon, Dorset and Somerset.
Debbie Stewart, one of the directors of the Community Enterprise Unit, said: "Because we are working in the social economy sector we are very aware that there is a lack of clarity about social enterprise. The new mark makes it clear that these are businesses that are trading for people and planet."
The Social Enterprise Mark is funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund and it is sponsored by the The Co-operative Group South West and Triodos Bank. RISE manages the Mark in South West England and is funded by the South West Regional Development Agency.
