Other news: Sustainable Woodland scheme gets under way

The recently launched Sustainable Woodland scheme is already attracting interest from the forestry sector and the Silvanus Trust, which has been commissioned to run the scheme, is giving advice to businesses interested in submitting proposals.

Under the scheme, funding will be available for:

Woodland and forest owners to improve the economic value of the forest
Those involved in the primary processing of forest products, for instance in developing new products, services and markets
Harvesting and primary processing of wood-based fuels
Recreation and other non-forestry use, for instance feasibility studies for in-forest recreational activities or associated activities such as cafes or bike hire.

The Silvanus Trust is in the process of appointing two technical advisers to help would-be applicants with their proposals.

Further information is available from the Silvanus Trust, 01752 846 400 or by email from .
